Car buyers have more hybrid options during this 2008 model season, but expect to find increased comfort and enhanced interior attributes rather than greatly increased fuel efficiency.

Nine auto manufacturers are offering 15 hybrid (gasoline-electric) powered vehicles for 2008, from the relatively ubiquitous Prius (now 1 million sold as of May 2008) to the full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. Yet fuel economy hasn’t greatly increased—the Prius still leads the way with 48 mpg on the highway, while on the low end the Tahoe is rated at 21 mpg—and carries a $50,000 sticker price.
